Mango procurement & marketing centre inaugurated at G. Udayagiri LAMP society

G. Udayagiri, May 30: A Mango Procurement and Marketing Centre was inaugurated at the G. Udayagiri Adarsha LAMP Cooperative Society in Kandhamal district to support local mango growers and strengthen agricultural marketing in the region.

The centre was inaugurated by Pranita Das, Sub-Collector of Baliguda and Chairperson of the Regulated Market Committee, Tikabali, who attended the event as the chief guest. Among the dignitaries present were Smita Mohanty, officials from the Cooperative Department, local Tahasildar Samudra Mishra, and in-charge Block Development Officer Satyanarayan Mishra.

Addressing the gathering, the officials highlighted the benefits of mango cultivation and informed farmers about various government assistance schemes available to them. They also provided guidance on post-harvest management, marketing opportunities, and methods to maximize profits from mango farming. The speakers encouraged farmers to adopt mango cultivation as a sustainable source of livelihood and shared their views on improving agricultural productivity.

The programme was coordinated by LAMP Managing Director Shishir Kanta Tripathy. A large number of farmers participated in the event and brought different varieties of mangoes for procurement.

The Sub-Collector informed that the government is procuring mangoes at a rate of ₹18.50 per kilogram. On the occasion, cheque payments were also distributed to several mango growers, marking the beginning of the procurement process and providing direct financial support to farmers.
