Bhubaneswar, September 8: The Jajpur district court on Monday sentenced a 32-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering his father five years ago.

District and Sessions Judge Amrut Ranjan Nanda found Gurucharan Behera of Bachhala village guilty of the crime and awarded him life imprisonment, Public Prosecutor Samarendra Das said.

In addition to the jail term, the court imposed a fine of ₹20,000 on the convict. In case of default, he will undergo an additional six months in prison, Das added.
