Digha, June 26: On the eve of the grand Rath Yatra festival, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived in Digha to take stock of the preparations at the newly built Jagannath temple.
Banerjee chaired a high-level review meeting on Thursday with officials from the Digha Shankarpur Development Authority (DSDA), senior police personnel, and monks from ISKCON to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual religious event.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister visited the temple premises to inspect the three traditional chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra stationed near the temple.
A DSDA official confirmed that she also walked along the entire 1-kilometre Yatra route, accompanied by police and DSDA officials, to oversee the final arrangements for crowd management and safety.
