LPG cylinders explode in Bhubaneswar during refilling: 1 critical, two vehicles gutted

Bhubaneswar, March 21: In a tragic incident in Bhubaneswar, a youth sustained critical burn injuries in a massive fire triggered from explosion of LPG cylinders.

The fatal incident took place at the Kalinga Nagar area under the Tamando police limit on Saturday while a shopkeeper was allegedly refilling LPG cylinders unsafely, warehousing a number of filled cylinders.

According to reports, a LPG Cylinder was reportedly being refilled by a youth in a shop. Meanwhile, it exploded all of a sudden and it sparked a massive fire in the shop. In no time, the flame spread to the LPG warehouse for which a number of gas cylinders exploded one after the other creating panic for others. As a result, the roof of the shop and the walls were blown off while two bikes were also gutted in the fire. Similarly, the shopkeeper was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to the hospital by fire services teams.

On being informed, police visited the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter.
