Bhubaneswar, June 26: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted that a low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts within the next 12 hours.

As per reports, this change in weather is due to a cyclonic circulation in the upper air, which has been active since yesterday in the same area. It is currently affecting the weather in parts of north Odisha and southern West Bengal.

Due to this circulation, weather conditions are becoming more suitable for a low-pressure system to form. If it intensifies further, it could lead to widespread rainfall in both coastal and inland areas of Odisha.

Meanwhile, the Met department has issued orange and yellow alerts for several districts in Odisha, warning of heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Weather forecast:

Day 1 (Valid from 8:30 AM of June 26 to 8:30 AM June 27)
