Bhubaneswar, Aug 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal by August 13.
The weather department has announced that heavy rainfall is expected to affect several parts of Odisha starting from Monday, under its influence.
The regional centre of the IMD in Bhubaneswar has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts of Odisha on Tuesday, including Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Koraput. Other areas, such as Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar, are also expected to experience heavy rainfall.
On Wednesday, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, and Gajapati. Heavy rainfall is also possible in Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, and Nuapada. Additionally, some areas of coastal, interior, and southern Odisha may experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
On Thursday, Malkangiri and Koraput are likely to see heavy to very heavy rainfall.
