KYC deadline extended: Big relief for farmers left out of PM-Kisan scheme

Bhubaneswar, Sept 13: In a significant move to bring more farmers under the ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, the government has announced a six-month extension of the KYC (Know Your Customer) deadline. The extended deadline, effective from September 8, offers a fresh opportunity for farmers who were previously left out of the scheme to register and avail benefits.

According to official sources, farmers already enrolled under the Chief Minister’s Kisan Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (CM-KISAN) scheme can now update their KYC details and become eligible for inclusion under PM-KISAN.

Currently, 51.54 lakh farmers are beneficiaries of the CM-KISAN scheme, while 34.85 lakh are receiving assistance under PM-KISAN. Notably, the newly formed state government has managed to add over 6 lakh new beneficiaries to PM-KISAN compared to the previous year.

To ensure wider coverage, the government has also launched a special drive aimed at enrolling more eligible farmers into the central scheme.

Officials have urged all eligible farmers to take advantage of the extended deadline and complete their KYC process to receive the financial benefits.
