Bhubaneswarm Sept 11: Odisha’s renowned Koraput Coffee has found a place in the media kit prepared for the 18th BRICS Summit, giving the state’s distinctive coffee a fresh platform at the national and international level.
The media kit features a selection of India’s diverse cultural, culinary and handicraft traditions. Along with Koraput Coffee, Bihar’s traditional sattu and makhana, as well as Gujarat’s famed handicrafts, are among the products showcased as representations of India’s rich regional diversity.

The 18th BRICS Summit is scheduled to be held on the 12th and 13th at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Journalists from India and across the world are expected to attend the summit. With the aim of drawing their attention to India’s diverse traditions, local products and handicrafts, the Ministry of External Affairs has incorporated products from different states into the media kit.
According to the Ministry, the initiative has been designed to showcase India’s story through its diversity, while highlighting its local heritage, innovation and development. The inclusion of products from different regions is also aimed at presenting India’s cultural richness to the international media.
With the participation of the Odisha government, the summit will also offer visitors an opportunity to experience the branding, taste and aroma of Koraput Coffee. The initiative is expected to provide the coffee with greater visibility among an international audience and further strengthen its identity as a distinctive product from Odisha.
Odisha Artist Creates Miniature BRICS Masterpieces

Adding another Odisha connection to the BRICS Summit, renowned miniature artist and Guinness World Record holder Vijay Kumar has created miniature portraits of the five BRICS heads of state using chalk.
The 23-year-old artist, who is also an electrical engineer, has crafted miniature portraits representing the leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. He has also created the letters spelling “BRICS”, national flags and the logo of the 2026 BRICS Summit.
Each portrait measures just around one centimetre in height. Vijay reportedly spent nearly a month creating the intricate artworks, using specially designed miniature tools and techniques.
The South African Embassy is also understood to have contacted Vijay Kumar regarding the possibility of sending his artworks abroad.

Vijay has previously attracted attention for his miniature artworks, including creations associated with the World Cup. His work has earned him recognition at both national and international levels, along with several records and awards.
The inclusion of Koraput Coffee in the BRICS media kit, along with the miniature artworks by an Odisha artist, has added a distinct Odisha touch to an international diplomatic event and placed the state’s products, culture and creative talent on a wider global platform.
