Nayagarh, April 21: Khandapada SDPO Madanmohan Pradhan has been transferred to the district headquarters following serious allegations of harassment and misconduct towards a woman. The action was taken by SP S. Sushree after an FIR was registered against the officer at Fatehgarh Police Station in Nayagarh district.

According to the complaint, the SDPO allegedly engaged in inappropriate chatting and made obscene phone calls to the woman. The victim has also approached the State Women’s Commission seeking action against the officer.

Sources said the officer had reportedly been calling the woman to his office on the pretext of resolving an old case registered at Fatehgarh Police Station. During this period, he allegedly tried to lure her into a relationship and subjected her to mental harassment. He is also accused of threatening to implicate her husband in a case, creating additional pressure on the victim.

The complaint further alleges that the SDPO demanded obscene photographs and repeatedly coerced the woman to enter into a physical relationship.

The victim has submitted an audio clip as evidence, in which the officer is allegedly heard making objectionable remarks and asking her to come and stay overnight. Despite her repeated resistance, he allegedly continued to pursue and harass her.

Following her complaint to the Director General of Police’s office, the police department initiated action and transferred the accused officer. However, there are growing demands for stricter action beyond transfer in the case.
