Bhubaneswar, Sept 27: The Khandagiri–Udayagiri Light & Sound Show was formally inaugurated today by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.
The immersive tourism experience has been developed by the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in collaboration with the Department of Tourism.
The initiative seeks to enhance the interpretation and visitor experience of the historic Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves by combining storytelling, light, sound and modern technology. Through an audiovisual narrative, the rock-cut caves, sculptures and inscriptions are presented in an engaging format, bringing alive the historical and cultural legacy associated with the site.
The show will be presented twice every evening in Odia and English. Each presentation has a duration of approximately 16 minutes and 7 seconds, with a seating capacity of 120 visitors.
The two daily show slots are: 7:00 PM to 7:35 PM and 7:45 PM to 8:20 PM. Visitors can book tickets online through the Odisha Tourism ticketing portal.www.bookodisha.com
The Khandagiri–Udayagiri Light & Sound Show marks an important addition to Odisha’s heritage tourism infrastructure. By integrating the state’s ancient archaeological legacy with modern technology and immersive storytelling, the initiative aims to offer visitors a distinctive experience while highlighting the historical significance of one of Bhubaneswar’s important heritage sites.
The event was attended by Babu Singh, Ekamra MLA, Balwant Singh, Tourism Secretary, Deepankar Mohapatra, Tourism Director, along with other senior officials and dignitaries.
