Bhubaneswar, Sep 10: The Odisha government has suspended Rajib Kumar Dalai, Block Education Officer (BEO) of Hatadihi block in Keonjhar district, over allegations of negligence in official duties and violation of rules.

The action has been taken by the School and Mass Education Department in connection with alleged lapses that affected the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 programme being carried out in Hatadihi block.

According to information available, Dalai was accused of negligence in the discharge of his responsibilities and of creating impediments to the smooth progress of the SIR exercise in the block.

 Taking the matter seriously, the state government initiated disciplinary action against him.

Dalai has been placed under immediate suspension.

During the period of suspension, Dalai has been directed to report to the office of the District Education Officer (DEO), Keonjhar. The suspension order also makes it clear that he cannot leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
