Karnataka CM condemns attack on CJI, highlights persistence of caste-based prejudice

Bengaluru, October 6: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has strongly condemned the disturbing incident in which a lawyer reportedly tried to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India, Justice B R Gavai, during a court session today.

The CM described the act as a clear indication that "caste-based prejudice and Manuvaadi ideologies" are still prevalent in society.

In a statement on 'X', the Chief Minister called for strict legal action against not just the individual responsible for the attack, but also those who may endorse or incite such behavior. The incident took place earlier today when a 71-year-old lawyer allegedly attempted to hurl a shoe at Justice Gavai during court proceedings.
