New Delhi, Jul 30: BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut has triggered a fresh political and social debate after strongly criticising the conduct of participants at the recent Jantar Mantar protests over the NEET issue and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).

Speaking during a televised discussion, Ranaut took particular aim at a 28-year-old CJP spokesperson, Saurav Das, and a Haryanvi dancer who participated in the demonstrations, accusing them of using abusive language and setting a poor example for the younger generation. She described the behaviour of some Gen Z protesters as "generation gutter" and "puke-inducing."

Drawing a comparison with her own life, Ranaut said that at the age of 28 she had already won two National Film Awards and was focused on building her career. She questioned what she described as the growing normalisation of abusive language and unruly conduct in public protests.

The remarks prompted a sharp response from television anchor Preeti Choudhry, who defended the young women participating in the demonstrations. Choudhry argued that their anger reflected genuine frustration and that they should not be expected to carry the burden of maintaining grace while raising their voices against issues they believe are important.

Ranaut, however, rejected the argument, saying that excusing abusive behaviour in the name of anger weakens the principles of feminism and sends the wrong message to young people. She maintained that freedom of expression should not come at the cost of civility and respect.

The exchange has reignited discussions on social media over the limits of free speech, the conduct of political protests, and the expectations placed on young activists. While some supported Ranaut's call for respectful public discourse, others backed the protesters' right to express their anger, highlighting the continuing divide over protest etiquette and democratic expression.
