Kandhamal, Oct 9: In a major crackdown on illegal gambling, Kandhamal police detained 24 individuals from four gambling dens across the district on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, the police carried out coordinated raids in the areas under the jurisdiction of G. Udayagiri, Balliguda, Khajuripada, and Tikabali police stations.
As a result of the operation, police seized a total of Rs 51,097 in cash, along with seven two-wheelers, 14 mobile phones, and several sets of playing cards found at the gambling locations.

The Kandhamal police confirmed that legal proceedings are underway for those apprehended during the operation.
