New Delhi, July 7: Jindal (India) Ltd announced on Monday that it has received approval from the Odisha government for its proposed greenfield steel project, to be developed with an initial investment of ₹3,600 crore.
In a statement, the company said the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) of Odisha has granted the go-ahead for the first phase of the project, which is part of a larger ₹15,000 crore investment plan in the state to be implemented in three phases by 2030.
The upcoming facility will specialize in manufacturing special coated steel products. It will include advanced coating infrastructure such as a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), a Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL), and a Colour Coating Line (CCL), with a combined annual production capacity of 9.6 lakh metric tonnes (MT). This phase is scheduled for commissioning by 2027.
In parallel, Jindal India Steel Tech Limited (JISTL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jindal (India) Ltd, will work to scale the plant's flat product division capacity to 30 lakh MT annually by 2030.
As part of its broader expansion in the state, Jindal (India) Ltd will also establish a steel pipe manufacturing unit with an estimated annual capacity of 2 lakh MT.
