Jaipur, Ap 17: Rajasthan Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Manju Baghmar, and former BJP MLA Dr. Alka Singh Gurjar flagged off the ‘Nari Shakti-Viksit Bharat Run’ on Thursday, organized from Chandpole Bazaar to Badi Chaupar in Jaipur.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Gurjar highlighted the recent introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament, calling it a historic move toward a “Viksit Bharat” during the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal’. She emphasized that the bill aims to empower women by ensuring their participation in social, economic, educational, and political spheres.

“Women will now have greater opportunities to participate in decision-making. From panchayats to Parliament, it is everyone’s duty to safeguard and respect women. Women’s involvement at the panchayat level, particularly in education, health, and nutrition, brings widespread improvements,” Gurjar said. She expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiative, noting the enthusiasm among women across society.

Participants in the run, clad in orange T-shirts and carrying the national flag, chanted “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” as the event commenced.

Minister Manju Baghmar added that under the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Bill, women will receive 33 per cent reservation, strengthening their role in decision-making at all levels. She described the day as a historic and proud moment for women.

During a special session of Parliament yesterday, three key Bills were introduced, including one proposing women’s reservation in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and another concerning the redrawing of constituency boundaries. The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023, which provides 33 per cent reservation for women legislators, is linked to the Lok Sabha delimitation process. The government plans to implement the reservation ahead of the 2029 general elections by amending the 2023 Act and delinking it from the 2027 census.
