Bhubaneswar, July 2: Heavy rainfall continued to lash several parts of Odisha on Thursday, with Ambabhona in Bargarh district recording the state's highest rainfall of 180 mm by 8:30 am, according to official reports.
Several other regions also witnessed significant rainfall. Yujumura in Sambalpur district received 130.8 mm, while Attabira and Bhatli in Bargarh district recorded 120 mm and 110.8 mm, respectively. Birmaharajpur in Sonepur district registered 107 mm of rainfall, the Regional Meteorological Centre said.
The widespread downpour has been attributed to weather systems affecting the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across Odisha over the next four days, beginning Thursday.
The Regional Meteorological Centre stated that a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on Friday. The system is expected to intensify rainfall activity across the state over the coming days.
AnOrange Warning has been issued for Koraput and Mayurbhanj districts until Friday, while Yellow Warningsare in effect for 10 other districts. Under the combined influence of the active weather systems, heavy rainfall is expected to continue across various parts of Odisha until July 6.
