Oil Tanker from Iraq Safely Reaches Paradip Port

Bhubaneswar, July 2: An oil tanker carrying nearly 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude oil safely reached Odisha's Paradip Port after passing through the Strait of Hormuz, where it reportedly came under gunfire and sustained minor shrapnel damage to its bridge.

The MT Sanmar Herald continued its voyage after altering its route and anchored about 22 km off Paradip. Crude oil discharge began through the port's Single Point Mooring (SPM) system.

Paradip Port Authority said the vessel remained in coordination with the Indian Navy during its journey.

The ship, carrying around 22 crew members, completed the mission safely despite the challenging conditions. Port officials felicitated the crew for their professionalism and resilience. No injuries were reported, and cargo operations are underway.
