Bhubaneswar, July 14:The Fast Track Special Court in Jagatsinghpur on Tuesday sentenced three men to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment after convicting them in a 2024 gang rape case.

The convicts — Ranjan Kumar Shil (26), Biswaranjan Nayak (29) and Suresh Kumar Behera (40) — were found guilty under Sections 376(D) and 506 of the IPC. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them. Earlier, it had directed Rs 2 lakh compensation for the survivor under a government assistance scheme.

The case relates to the gang rape of a 29-year-old woman near Nimkana Railway Station under Tirtol police limits on February 3, 2024. Following an investigation by the Crime Against Women and Children Wing (CAW&CW), a chargesheet was filed, leading to the conviction based on evidence presented during the trial.
