Mumbai, Mar 8: In a unique gesture to commemorate International Women's Day, the Central Railways is operating a Vande Bharat Express with an all-women crew for the first time today.
As per reports, the Vande Bharat Express (22223), which runs run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Shirdi, with all women crew including the loco pilot, assistant loco pilot, train manager, TCs and train Hostesses.
Speaking to ANI, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railways stated that a similar initiative has been implemented in goods trains as well, and they aim to extend it to other Vande Bharat trains in the future.
Taking to its official ‘X’ handle, the Central Railways shared visuals of the train and called it a "proud and historic moment" celebrating the strength, dedication, and leadership of women in Indian Railways.

It is worth mentioning that International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated worldwide on March 8, recognizing women's achievements and promotes gender equality.
In 2025, the theme is "For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment", highlighting the urgent need to accelerate progress toward gender parity.
