New Zealand has firmly taken the driver's seat in the first Test against India, building a commanding 134-run lead by the end of Day 2 in Bengaluru. After bowling out the hosts for a shockingly low score of 46, the Kiwis showcased their batting prowess, reaching 180/3 in 50 overs.
Devon Conway was the star of the show for New Zealand, crafting a masterful innings of 91 runs off just 105 balls. He, along with opening partner Tom Latham, made a solid foundation for the visitors. Latham eventually fell to Kuldeep Yadav for 15, but Conway continued to dominate the Indian bowling attack. He forged a crucial partnership with Will Young, who contributed a patient 33 before being dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja.
Conway's brilliant knock, studded with elegant strokes and astute shot selection, finally came to an end when he was trapped LBW by Ravichandran Ashwin. However, by then, the damage had been done, and New Zealand had built a significant lead.
At stumps on Day 2, Rachin Ravindra (22*) and Daryl Mitchell (14*) were unbeaten at the crease, looking comfortable and poised to further extend New Zealand's advantage.
