India delivered a T20I masterclass in Johannesburg, obliterating South Africa by 135 runs to clinch the series 3-1. The architects of this demolition were Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma, who unleashed an unprecedented batting onslaught, propelling India to a record-shattering 283/1.
Samson, with a blistering 109* off just 54 deliveries, and Varma, smashing 120* off a mere 60 balls, orchestrated a breathtaking 210-run partnership for the second wicket. This stand not only marked the highest partnership for any wicket for India in men's T20Is but also laid the foundation for India's highest ever T20I total on South African soil.
Their innings were studded with breathtaking strokeplay, with Samson's nine sixes showcasing his power and Varma's ten maximums highlighting his elegant aggression. This batting masterclass propelled India to their second-highest T20I total ever, just shy of the 297 they posted against Bangladesh earlier this year.
South Africa, in response, could only muster 148, their lowest total against India in T20Is. Stubbs top-scored with 43, while Miller contributed 36, but the gulf in class was evident. Arshdeep Singh (3-20) and Axar Patel (2-6) were the pick of the Indian bowlers, further emphasizing India's dominance.
This series victory was built on the foundation of India's aggressive batting approach. The fearlessness displayed by Samson and Varma, coupled with contributions from the rest of the team, showcased the depth and firepower in India's T20I arsenal. With this emphatic win, India has not only secured another series victory but also sent a clear message to the cricketing world – this team is a force to be reckoned with.
