Imphal (Manipur), May 12: Amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman V. Narayanan said that at least 10 satellites are working 24/7 for strategic purposes to help keep the country's citizens safe and secure.
Speaking at the 5th convocation ceremony of the Central Agricultural University (CAU) in Imphal yesterday, the ISRO chief talked about how the organization is working to keep the country safe.
"At least 10 satellites are working 24/7 to help ensure the safety and security of the country's citizens," said V. Narayanan.
V. Narayanan said, "You all know about our neighbors. To keep our country safe, we must rely on our satellites. We need to monitor our 7,000 km coastline and keep an eye on the entire northern border constantly. Without satellites and drone technology, we can't do that."
After several days of clashes and unrest along the northern and western International Borders (IB), the region remained mostly peaceful during the night between May 11 and May 12, the Army said.
The Army said that Jammu and Kashmir, along with other areas along the IB, remained calm, and no incidents of violence or violations of the ceasefire were reported.
The army mentioned that this was the first peaceful night in recent days after cross-border firing, heavy shelling, and drone attacks by Pakistan.
These actions were in response to India's Operation Sindoor, which was launched after the April 22 terror attacks and targeted major terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
