New Delhi, May 10: In a strong response to recent drone incursions along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB), the Indian Army launched retaliatory action in the Jammu sector, Defence sources confirmed on Saturday.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated significantly, with drones reportedly sighted at 26 locations spanning from Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat on Friday. These drones, suspected to be armed, are considered a serious threat to both civilian and military installations.
Among the locations where drone activity was observed are Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala—covering a vast stretch of India's border regions.
One of the most alarming incidents occurred in Ferozpur, Punjab, where an armed drone targeted a civilian area, leaving members of a local family severely injured. The victims received immediate medical attention, and security forces have since secured and sanitised the area.
With the situation growing more serious, the Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert. Aerial threats are being actively monitored and engaged using advanced counter-drone systems.
Defence officials stated that the situation is being closely monitored, and swift action is being taken wherever necessary. Residents, especially those in border regions, have been advised to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and adhere to safety directives issued by local authorities. While officials have urged citizens not to panic, they have emphasized the need for heightened awareness and caution.
