INDIA DELEGATION TO JAPAN

Tokyo [Japan], May 24: In a clear and united stance against cross-border terrorism, an all-party delegation of Indian MPs, led by JD(U) leader Sanjay Kumar Jha, including Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, met with prominent Japanese figures from political, governmental, and academic sectors on Saturday.

The interaction, held at India House and hosted by India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, was part of India’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to raise global awareness about terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

The Indian delegation emphasized a "zero tolerance" policy towards terrorism, underscoring national unity on this issue across party lines. In a post on social media platform X, the Indian Embassy in Japan stated, “All-Party Delegation of Hon’ble Members of Parliament led by Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha interacted with dignitaries from Japan’s political, governmental, and academic spheres and conveyed a strong and unified national message of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism at a dinner hosted by Ambassador Sibi George at India House.”

Earlier, Jha addressed the media, reaffirming India’s firm stance on terrorism and directly accusing Pakistan of perpetuating a decades-long proxy war. “Pakistan has been fighting a proxy war for over 40 years because it cannot engage India in direct conflict,” he said, referring to recent incidents including the Pahalgam terror attack. “This is not an isolated incident. Tourists were targeted based on their religion—this reflects the depth of Pakistan’s involvement in fostering terrorism.”

Highlighting the bipartisan nature of the delegation, Jha stressed that while Indian political parties may differ ideologically and compete electorally, they remain united when it comes to matters of national security. “We may have political differences, but on issues of national interest, especially terrorism, we stand together,” he noted.

The nine-member delegation includes representatives from both the ruling and opposition parties: BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradhan Baruah, and Hemang Joshi; AITC MP Abhishek Banerjee; CPI(M) MP John Brittas; senior Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid; and Ambassador Mohan Kumar.

This visit to Japan is the first leg of a larger diplomatic mission across East Asia. The Indian MPs are also engaging with the Indian diaspora abroad to mobilize international awareness and solidarity in the fight against terrorism. (With ANI input)
