Hyderabad, July 20: A trainee IPS officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad has been booked for sexual harassment to a woman co-trainee on Sunday.
Based on the woman IPS Officer’s complaint, the Attapur police registered a case in this connection and initiated an investigation.
The accused trainee officer has been identified as Uday Krishna Reddy, a Hyderabad-based IPS Officer.
According to the complainant, the accused had allegedly been sending her sexually abusive messages, falsely linking her to another male trainee by accusing her of being in a relationship with him and also sending offensive remarks.
The complainant further alleged that on July 9, the accused wrongfully restrained her and then threw three packets of condoms at her.
She also alleged that the accused grope her, allegedly recorded a video of her without her consent and sent it to her husband in an attempt to blackmail her.
Based on the complaint and the victim IPS Officer’s accound, police has registered a case and took the accused into custody for examination.
Further investigation is underway, a senior officer of Hyderabad Police told to press.
No official statement has yet been issued by the accused regarding the allegations.
As of now, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy has not issued any official statement regarding the incident or the complaint filed by the trainee officer.
The investigation by the Attapur Police is expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the incidents and whether further legal action is warranted.
