Bhubaneswar, May 11: The Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police have stepped up their efforts to ensure road safety by conducting intensified late-night checks across the city. In a recent operation, areas around key intersections, including Sriya Talkies Square, were closely monitored to curb incidents of drunk driving and enforce traffic regulations. The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing drive to enhance public safety and reduce accidents during late-night hours when reckless driving tends to spike.

The operation was overseen by senior officials, including Commissionerate Officer S. Devadatta Singh and Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena, who personally supervised the roadblocks and vehicle inspections. Police personnel carried out meticulous checks on passing vehicles, stopping motorists to verify compliance with traffic rules. The focus was on detecting violations such as driving under the influence of alcohol, riding without helmets, and operating vehicles without proper registration numbers.

As a result of the crackdown, the authorities impounded several vehicles, and drivers found violating the rules were taken into custody for further investigation. Police officials confirmed that the offenders would face legal action under traffic regulations, underscoring the city's seriousness about road safety.
