Phule’s Fight Against Discrimination and Inequality Paved the Way for Equality and Justice: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, April 11: Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to the renowned social reformer Jyotirao Phule on his 199th birth anniversary, highlighting how his relentless struggle against discrimination and inequality illuminated the path toward a just and equal society.

Born on April 11, 1827, in Maharashtra, Phule dedicated his life to challenging the social hierarchies and advocating for the rights of the oppressed, particularly the lower castes and women. His legacy continues to inspire movements for social justice even today.

Rahul Gandhi, on the occasion, remarked, “On the birth anniversary of the great social reformer, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, I offer my deepest respects. His courageous fight against social injustices and inequality showed the nation the way toward a future founded on the principles of equality and justice for all.”

Phule passed away on November 28, 1890, but his pioneering contributions to social reform remain integral to India's journey toward a more inclusive society.
