Visitors at Konark Yatri Nivas enjoyed traditional Odia cuisine

Celebrating the cultural essence of Odisha, the Konark Yatri Nivas organized a special event to mark Pakhala Dibas. This occasion highlighted the deep-rooted connection every Odia household has with this fermented rice dish. For locals, a bowl of Pakhala is more than just a meal; it is a source of immense satisfaction and comfort.

Visitors from various regions who arrived to explore the Sun Temple found themselves treated to a culinary delight at the local Yatri Nivas. The hospitality team ensured that the essence of Odia food culture was front and center. Many tourists expressed their joy and appreciation after tasting the refreshing meal, noting how well it suited the coastal climate of Konark.

Diverse Menu of Odia Delicacies

The spread served during the event was extensive and traditional. Guests were treated to Dahi Pakhala accompanied by a variety of side dishes that define the Odia palate. The menu featured:

  • Crispy Badi Chura and Fried Fish.
  • Classic Alu Bharta and nutritious Saaga.
  • Specialties like Kakharu Phula Pitha (pumpkin flower fritters) and stir-fried drumsticks.

Successful execution of this food festival was made possible by the diligent staff at the Yatri Nivas. Manager Bapi Ranjan Sahu, along with Restaurant Manager Bikash Kumar Swain, personally supervised the arrangements. Other key contributors included Balaram Mohapatra and Laxmipriya Behera, who joined the entire workforce in welcoming guests and promoting the heritage of Pakhala Dibas.
