Cuttack, March 23: A fatal road accident involving a private passenger bus claimed one life near Champeswar Chhak on State Highway No. 65 along the Cuttack–Narsinghpur main road on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Niranjan Raul of Champeswar Bazaar. According to reports, he was travelling on a bicycle when a private bus named “Mahalik” allegedly hit him from behind, leading to his death on the spot. The bus driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.

The incident led to tension in the area, with irate locals staging a road blockade on the Badamba–Narsinghpur main road, demanding action against those responsible. Police from Kanpur station reached the spot and initiated efforts to pacify the protesters and restore normalcy.
