Jajpur, Jul 31: As the flood situation continues to worsen in Jajpur district, personnel of the 8th Battalion of the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) from Chatrapur in Ganjam district have been carrying out relentless rescue and relief operations, emerging as a lifeline for stranded residents.
Braving strong currents, submerged roads and adverse weather conditions, the 39-member ODRAF team has been working round the clock to rescue people trapped in floodwaters. Using power boats, the team has safely evacuated elderly persons, women and children from inundated villages and shifted them to safer locations and relief shelters.
Apart from rescue operations, the ODRAF personnel have been delivering dry food, drinking water and other essential relief materials to flood-affected families in inaccessible areas.
Officials said the team's professionalism, discipline and dedication have helped save many precious lives. Working in close coordination with the local administration, the personnel continue to reach even the remotest flood-hit areas to ensure that no stranded resident is left behind.
The tireless efforts and courage displayed by the ODRAF team have earned widespread appreciation from both the local administration and residents of the affected villages.
