Bhubaneswar, June 9: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday nabbed a staffer of Odisha Pharmacy Council and his associate while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 9,000.
Accused have been Biswamohan Pattnaik alias Raja, Senior Assistant of the Odisha Pharmacy Council, Bhubaneswar has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance along with his associate Md. Izaz Khan alias Prusty.
According to a Vigilance communique, Pattnaik was taking bribe of Rs 9,000 from a person through his associate Prusty to verify documents to facilitate the grant of Pharmacy Registration Certificate. For about a week, the applicant had been requesting the accused senior assistant for issuance of Pharmacy Registration Certificate.
Today, when the applicant approached Senior Assistant Patnaik in front of the Odisha Pharmacy Council Office in Bhubaneswar to facilitate issuance of the certificate, he asked him about the bribe and instructed him to hand over the same to his associate Prusty.
“The complainant reported the matter to vigilance authorities. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance, today, nabbed both the accused persons namely Sri Pattnaik and Md. Izaz Khan while taking bribe Rs 9,000 from the applicant. The entire tainted bribe money Rs 9,000 has been seized from them,” Vigilance stated.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Pattnaik on possible disproportion assets.
