Bhubaneswar, June 22: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday reviewed Odisha’s disaster management preparedness ahead of the monsoon season at Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre.
Chairing a high-level meeting, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the state's commitment to its “zero casualty” policy and stressed the need to further strengthen Odisha’s disaster response system to tackle climate-related challenges. He directed departments to prepare contingency plans for possible below-normal rainfall and ensure adequate availability of seeds, fertilizers and irrigation support for the Kharif season.
Majhi highlighted Odisha’s successful handling of recent cyclones and said the state’s disaster management model has earned recognition at international forums. He also reviewed the readiness of cyclone shelters, emergency control rooms, warning systems and relief infrastructure.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari emphasized effective utilization of disaster response funds and praised the state’s preparedness and rescue operations. Public representatives attending the meeting offered suggestions, which the government assured would be incorporated into future disaster management plans.
