Bhubaneswar, August 4: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday extended greetings to journalists across the state on the occasion of Odia Journalism Day, acknowledging their contribution to democracy and society.

In a post on X, Governor Dr. Kambhampati congratulated the media fraternity and lauded journalists for their commitment to truth, impartiality, and public interest.

"On the occasion of Odia Journalism Day, heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all journalist friends," he wrote. Describing the media as the fourth pillar of democracy, the Governor said journalists play a vital role in shaping an aware, empowered, and healthy society through their dedication and service.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also conveyed his wishes, praising the role of journalists in safeguarding democratic values.

"My heartfelt congratulations and greetings to all journalist brothers and sisters on Odia Journalism Day," the Chief Minister posted on X. He said the efforts of Odia journalists in promoting truth, impartiality, and public interest continue to strengthen an informed, responsible, and empowered society.

Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik also greeted journalists, highlighting the significance of independent journalism in nation-building. He noted that the publication of Utkala Deepika, the first Odia newspaper, marked the beginning of a new era of public awakening in Odisha.

"True and impartial journalism has always played a pivotal role in building a healthy and vigilant society. On Odia Journalism Day, I extend my best wishes to every individual who makes journalism meaningful through their dedication and commitment," Patnaik said.

Odia Journalism Day is observed annually to commemorate the publication ofUtkala Deepikaand to recognize the contribution of Odia journalism in promoting public awareness, democratic values, and social progress.
