Odisha Cabinet Approves Rs. 3,506 Crore for Mukhyamantri Poshan Yojana Over Next Four Years

The Odisha Cabinet approved an expenditure of Rs. 3,506.99 crore for the implementation of the Mukhyamantri Poshan Yojana (MMPY)over the next four years. The scheme aims to provide nutritious mid-day meals to 46.6 lakh secondary school students studying in government and government-aided schools across the state.

Odisha Cabinet Approves Rs. 3,506 Crore for Mukhyamantri Poshan Yojana Over Next Four Years

Bhubaneswar, July 1:The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, on Wednesday approved an expenditure of Rs. 3,506.99 crore for the implementation of the Mukhyamantri Poshan Yojana (MMPY)over the next four years. The scheme aims to provide nutritious mid-day meals to 46.6 lakh secondary school students studying in government and government-aided schools across the state.

The Mukhyamantri Poshan Yojana is a flagship welfare initiative of the Odisha Government designed to address the nutritional needs of adolescent students while improving school attendance, retention, and learning outcomes. The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on April 1, 2025, extending the mid-day meal programme to students of secondary schools.

The government has estimated a total expenditure of Rs. 4,224.46 crore for the five-year programme covering the period from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2030. During this period, approximately57.41 lakh students are expected to benefit from the scheme.

In the financial year2025-26, the state spentRs. 665.36 croreunder the programme, providing nutritious mid-day meals to11,23,536 students across 8,962 educational institutions. The Cabinet granted ex-post facto approval for this expenditure.

The Cabinet also approved the continuation of the scheme over the next four years with an estimated outlay of Rs. 3,506.99 crore, ensuring the provision of nutritious mid-day meals to nearly46.6 lakh secondary school studentsacross Odisha.
