Lucknow, July 16: Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh on Thursday announced that all meat, fish, egg and liquor shops along the designated Kanwar Yatra routes will remain closed during the holy month of Shravan.
The minister said the state government has directed officials to strictly enforce the closure order and take stringent legal action against any shop owner found violating the directive.
He also stated that the police and district administration have been instructed to act against eateries and dhabas operating under fake names along the Kanwar Yatra routes.
In addition, the Uttar Pradesh government will continue its tradition of showering flower petals on Kanwariya pilgrims from helicopters as a gesture of respect and welcome. The minister said the practice reflects the government's commitment to honouring devotees during the annual pilgrimage.
