New Delhi, February 3: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday criticized the Make in India initiative, declaring it a failure during his address in the Lok Sabha as part of the Motion of Thanks on the President's address.
Rahul Gandhi expressed disappointment with the content of the President's speech, delivered at the start of the Budget session. "I listened to the President's address while sitting beside Kharge Ji. I must admit, it was difficult to stay engaged because it felt like a repetition of previous addresses," Gandhi remarked.
He further commented, "It was the same checklist of government achievements—'We've done this, we've done that'—listing 50 or 100 things. But there was nothing new, no fresh vision."
Questioning the repetitive nature of the address, Gandhi reflected, "As I listened, I asked myself, 'What should a Presidential address convey? How could it be different from what we just heard?'"
Highlighting the need for a shift in focus, he emphasized, "Our country needs to prioritize production and manufacturing. In my view, an alternative address—one that the INDIA bloc would propose—would focus on empowering the youth and shaping a future driven by innovation and growth."
