Nabarangpur, June 26: Prafulla Haldar, Livestock Inspector of Raighar under the Chief District Veterinary Officer (CDVO) in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 80,000 bribe from a beneficiary.
The official was receiving the bribe from a farmer in lieu of releasing the subsidy amount under the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana that supports dairy farmers and assists in establishing dairy units ranging from 1 to 5 cows.
As per the guideline of the scheme, the dairy farmer had been selected as a beneficiary.The Accused LI Haldar demanded bribe Rs 80,000 from the beneficiary to release the subsidy amount and threatened to block the subsidy amount of his and other beneficiaries from his village, if the bribe was not paid.
Finding no other means, the beneficiary approached the vigilance authorities. Following this, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Haldar red-handed with the bribe.
The entire bribe money Rs 80,000 has been recovered from the possession of Haldar and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to Haldar, LI from DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance has initiated a case under Corruption Act.
