Balangir, April 1: A woman’s half-burnt body was recovered from a government residence in Ramchandrapur village under Deogaon police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district, triggering shock in the area.

The deceased has been identified as Jayanti Barik, a health worker at the local health sub-centre. Preliminary reports suggest she was murdered and her body was later set on fire.

Suspicion has fallen on her husband in connection with the incident. Police from Bandhapada outpost and Deogaon police station have reached the spot and launched an investigation.
