Hyderabad, March 26: At least 10 passengers were burnt alive and more than 18 others injured in a horrific road accident after a passenger bus collided with a truck near Rayavaram, close to Markapur in Andhra Pradesh.
According to reports, the bus rammed into a granite-laden truck on a curved stretch of road at around 6:30 AM. The impact of the collision was so severe that the bus caught fire, leaving several passengers trapped inside.
Eyewitnesses said the bus was moving at high speed when the accident occurred. While around 10 to 12 passengers managed to escape by breaking through the windows, many others remained trapped and were engulfed in the flames.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals. The bus, which was travelling from Hyderabad to Pamuru, was completely gutted in the fire.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
