βββββββNew Delhi, September 10: An independent judiciary cannot function effectively without an independent, ethical and fearless Bar, Justice V Kameswar Rao said on Thursday as the Delhi High Court bid farewell to him following his appointment as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
Addressing the farewell reference organised by the Delhi High Court, Justice Rao emphasised that the Bench and the Bar are not opposing institutions but partners in the administration of justice.
He said constitutional principles and rights ultimately reach the courts because advocates are willing to stand up and argue for them, underlining the important role played by the legal profession in upholding the rule of law.
The full court farewell was attended by members of Justice Rao's family, besides several senior advocates and lawyers.
