IIT Bhubaneswar hosts international conference on advanced materials for energy, environment & sustainability

Bhubaneswar, May 19: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), organized the International Conference on “Advanced Materials in Energy, Environment & Sustainability” (AMEES-2025) from May 16 to 18, 2025.

 The event was inaugurated by Prof. V. Pandu Ranga, Dean of Continuing Education at IIT Bhubaneswar, and Prof. Kulamani Parida from the MRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter. The inaugural session also saw addresses by Prof. Snehasis Chowdhuri, Head of the Department of Chemistry, School of Basic Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar; Prof. Umaprasana Ojha, the Convenor; and Dr. Palas Roy, the Co-Convenor. The speakers emphasized the significance of the conference in the context of sustainable development and cutting-edge materials research.

 The three-day conference attracted leading researchers from premier national and international institutions who presented their work on crucial topics such as renewable energy, water purification, solar photovoltaics, environmental restoration, energy storage systems, and nanotechnology.

 Over 35 oral presentations and 50 poster sessions were featured during the event. Several participants were honored with awards from the American Chemical Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry in recognition of their outstanding poster presentations.

 Financial support for the conference was extended by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, Government of India, along with contributions from various equipment and chemical suppliers.

 AMEES-2025 aimed to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration in areas vital to promoting renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and eco-friendly technologies, reinforcing India’s commitment to a greener future.
