Kozhikode, May 16: The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) donated over 17,500 books worth Rs 1.05 crore to 35 colleges across Kerala.
The premiere institute successfully hosted the sixth edition of its Book Donation Programme and donated the books to 35 colleges in 11 districts of Kerala.
As part of the institute’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, the event held on Thursday saw over 200 students and teachers from the beneficiary institutions take part with great enthusiasm.
Each participating college received about 500 books worth Rs 3 lakh. The books covered a wide range of subjects, including Economics, Management, Accounting, Commerce, Marketing, Operations Research, Quantitative Methods, Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, Business Ethics, Information Technology, and Literature.
These books were carefully selected by IIMK's faculty and donated by students as part of a book donation drive organized by Nalanda – the Library and Information Centre at IIMK.
The event was led by Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode, who started this CSR outreach program in 2011.
Chatterjee said, "IIMK's Book Donation Programme is our way of building a good name by doing something meaningful for society. We believe in giving back to the communities we serve. When knowledge is shared, it grows. We hope those who benefit from this program will one day do the same for others," said the Director of IIM Kozhikode.
Since it began in 2011, IIMK's Book Donation Programme has given out over 70,000 books worth Rs 4.5 crore to schools and colleges across Kerala.
This shows the institute’s strong commitment to equal access to education, community involvement, and sharing knowledge with all.
IIM Kozhikode was set up by the Indian government in 1996 and started its first Postgraduate Program in 1997.
According to the NIRF India Rankings 2024, IIMK is ranked third among management institutes in the country.
