HSC exams conclude smoothly in Odisha, results likely by early May

Bhubaneswar, March 2: The annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha concluded without any major issues on March 2.

According to BSE President Srikanta Tarai, the results are expected to be announced in the first or second week of May.

The examinations began on February 19 and were conducted at 3,082 centres across the state. Officials reported that the entire process was carried out as scheduled and remained largely incident-free.

Tarai stated that the exams proceeded smoothly, with no significant disturbances or reported violations. However, he noted a minor incident in Berhampur, where an invigilator mistakenly distributed Set A answer sheets to students assigned Set B.

The error was promptly corrected, and no disciplinary action was required. There were no cases of malpractice during the examinations, which he attributed to the installation of CCTV cameras at all examination centres.

The evaluation process has already commenced. While the assessment of objective OMR answer sheets is currently underway, the checking of subjective OMR papers will begin on March 19. Approximately 15,000 teachers will participate in the evaluation work at 51 centres statewide.

Tarai added that, provided there are no weather-related disruptions, the results will be declared by the second week of May.

He also assured students and parents that the evaluation process will be conducted carefully and accurately.
