Herd of 27 Elephants wreak havoc in Keonjhar

Patna, Oct 19: A herd of 27 elephants was spotted near Sorasapasi village in the Patna range of Keonjhar district, alarming local residents. The elephants have caused significant damage to farmland, leaving destruction in their wake.

 

With no signs of the herd returning to its natural habitat, locals, along with forest department officials and security personnel, are losing sleep over the situation. Residents express frustration over the department's inability to implement effective measures to drive the elephants away, resulting in ongoing disturbances.

 

Affected villagers are demanding immediate action to manage the herd and seek proper compensation for their losses. Some homes have suffered partial damage, with reports of elephants breaking through walls and raiding kitchens for food. They are urging the forest department to address their grievances and provide adequate support for those impacted by the elephants' destructive behavior. The community remains on edge as they await a resolution to this escalating crisis.
