Bhubaneswar, June 25: Heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning likely to lash several districts of Odisha from June 24 to June 28, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per the weather department, the weather alert is due to a trough stretching from a cyclonic circulation over central South Uttar Pradesh to the northwest Bay of Bengal, extending up to 1.5 km above sea level.
The Met Department said that an upper air cyclonic circulation is located over south Jharkhand, slanting downwards with height. Another cyclonic circulation over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal has combined with this system.
Several districts have received heavy rainfall, with Tiring in Mayurbhanj getting 10 cm, Kashipur in Rayagada and Kaptipada in Mayurbhanj receiving 7 cm each, and Daringibadi in Kandhamal also recording 7 cm of rain.
Residents can expect thunderstorms with a high chance of rain, between 70% and 100%, and humidity levels between 81% and 94%. Temperatures will likely be between 25°C and 31°C.
