Bhubaneswar, August 30: Odisha is set to witness an increase in rainfall starting from August 31, with heavy showers expected to continue until September 3, according to the latest forecast.

The department’s assessment indicates that many parts of the state could experience continuous rainfall on Saturday, with certain districts likely to receive persistent showers. On August 31 (Sunday), heavy rainfall is anticipated in several areas, particularly in Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, and Rayagada. Following this, coastal and some southern districts of Odisha may face continuous rain accompanied by storms.

From early September, most regions across the state are forecasted to see widespread rainfall. The districts of Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh have been specifically alerted for heavy rain. Several other districts also remain at risk of rain accompanied by storms. On September 2 and 3, rainfall is expected to prevail over most districts, with heavy showers possible in some locations.

Meanwhile, Friday saw predominantly dry weather across Odisha, with parched and cracked ground conditions in many areas and only sporadic light rain reported.
