Jajpur, June 11: Following reports of a diarrhoea outbreak in Jajpur, Odisha Health Secretary Ashwathi S. has confirmed that a multidisciplinary team has been deployed to the affected areas to assess and contain the situation. The team, which has already reached the site, includes doctors, microbiologists, and food safety officials, and is currently investigating the cause of the outbreak.
In response to the health emergency, additional medical teams and supplies have been dispatched across the district. An expert team from SCB Medical College is also en route to support the on-ground efforts.
“All necessary medical arrangements are being ensured, and public health officials are closely monitoring the situation,” said Health Secretary Ashwathi S. during a press briefing. She expressed confidence that patients will receive timely and adequate care.
Coordination efforts are also underway with the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Departments to ensure the cleanliness of all water sources. The Jajpur District Collector is overseeing operations locally.
“The issue will be resolved at the earliest,” she assured, adding that the exact number of affected and deceased individuals will be confirmed once the field team submits its detailed report.
