The incident brought traffic on one side of the National Highway to a standstill, with long queues of vehicles building up along the stretch. Commuters faced considerable inconvenience as passenger vehicles and heavy commercial vehicles remained stranded for an extended period.
Following the mishap, police personnel reached the spot and launched efforts to clear the road. A crane was deployed to remove the overturned vehicle, while the scattered cargo was cleared from the carriageway to facilitate the movement of traffic.
Traffic gradually returned to normal after the obstruction was removed. No serious casualties have been reported in connection with the incident so far.
The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
The incident once again highlights the vulnerability of traffic movement on NH-16, one of Bhubaneswar’s major arterial routes, where even a single road mishap can lead to significant congestion.
