Balasore, Feb 10: Burglars looted gold and silver jewellery worth around ₹1 crore after breaking into a jewellery shop by damaging its wall near Fata Arjun Chowk under Soro police station limits in Balasore district.
According to sources, the theft occurred at Nilamani Jewellery, owned by Rajendra Kumar Sahu. The miscreants allegedly broke through the wall of the shop late on Sunday night and decamped with gold ornaments worth approximately ₹80 lakh, silver jewellery weighing about 5 kilograms, and ₹10,000 in cash.
The incident came to light on Monday morning when the shop owner arrived to open the store and found the premises vandalised. He immediately informed the local police.
Police personnel reached the spot soon after and launched an investigation. Further details are awaited.
